What this site does
Mic & Cam Test is a free collection of browser-based tools for checking that your hardware works before an important call, stream, exam or recording. There is nothing to install and no account to create — open a page, click a button, and you get an instant answer.
- Microphone test — a live volume bar and waveform that react to your voice.
- Webcam test — a camera preview with resolution, frame rate and aspect ratio.
- Speaker / sound test — left, right and stereo tones to confirm your output.
- Keyboard test — every key lights up as you press it.
- Mouse test — left, right, middle click, double-click and scroll detection.
- App guides: Discord, Zoom and Teams microphone fixes.
Privacy first — by design, not by promise
The whole point of a hardware test is that it should not be creepy. Every test here runs entirely in your browser using the standard Web Audio and MediaDevices APIs. We never record, upload or store your audio, video or snapshots — there is no server that receives your stream. You can verify this yourself in your browser's Network tab. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
Why we built it
Remote work, online classes, gaming and live streaming mean millions of people need to confirm a mic or webcam works without fiddling with system settings or installing sketchy software. We wanted the fastest possible answer: load a page, click once, done.
How it stays free
The site is supported by unobtrusive advertising (Google AdSense). Ads let us keep every tool free with no signup. Advertisers never receive your microphone or camera data — that never leaves your device. See the Privacy Policy for how cookies and advertising work and how to opt out.
Browser support
The tests work in modern versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and most Chromium browsers, on desktop and mobile. Microphone and camera access requires an HTTPS connection, which this site uses.
