1. What this service is
Mic & Cam Test ("we", "us", "the site") operates micandcamtest.com, a collection of free, in-browser utilities: a microphone test, webcam test, speaker and tone tests, keyboard and mouse testers, a voice recorder and an online mirror, together with troubleshooting guides for popular calling apps. All tools run locally in your browser; your audio and video are never uploaded (see our Privacy Policy for details). By accessing or using the site you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Free service, provided "as is"
The site is provided free of charge, on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the tests will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every browser, device or driver combination. A passing or failing result here is a diagnostic aid, not a professional assessment of your hardware, and the hearing-related tools are not a medical test.
3. Permitted and prohibited use
You may use the site for personal and commercial hardware checks — before meetings, streams, recordings or when troubleshooting a device. You agree not to:
- scrape, mirror, frame or republish the site or substantial parts of it without permission;
- interfere with the site's operation, probe or test its infrastructure for vulnerabilities, or access it with automated traffic that degrades the service for others;
- use the tools in any way that violates applicable law, including recording people without consent;
- engage in ad fraud, such as generating artificial clicks or impressions on the advertising shown here;
- remove or obscure any notices, attribution or legal links on the site.
4. Intellectual property
The site's design, text, guides, code and branding are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright. You may link to any page and quote short excerpts with attribution; you may not copy whole pages or the tools themselves. Zoom, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Google Meet and other product names mentioned on this site are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used only to identify the apps our guides refer to — this site is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of them.
5. Advertising
The site is funded by third-party advertising, including Google AdSense. Ads are clearly distinguishable from our content. Advertisers, not us, are responsible for the products and services they promote, and clicking an ad takes you to a third-party site governed by its own terms. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies work and how to opt out of personalised ads.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site, including hardware issues the tests failed to detect, missed meetings, or data loss. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us to use the site — which is zero.
7. Changes and termination
We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice, and we may update these terms from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may restrict access for anyone who abuses the service or breaches these terms.
